Earlier, when speshope and I were hanging out in the student union between classes, we somehow got onto the subject of beloved crappy musicals from our youths, and I ended up mentioning Annie. I saw it eight million times as a little kid, I explained to her, but it took me a really long time to realize that Carol Burnett and Tim Curry were supposed to be brother and sister, and not have any sort of romantic element or anything.

Given just how impossible it seems for me to escape the incest subtext now (Firefly! Royal Tenenbaums! Series of Unfortunate Events!), I'm kind of afraid to watch the movie again any time soon.
