Spes and I saw The Producers tonight.

THOUGHTS: I have seen the original movie many, many times and it was one of my favorites, but I'd never seen the musical, so naturally, part of me was comparing the two films in my mind the entire time (though that became less and less as the movie went on).

That said? I LOVED it. I can't remember the last time I was at a movie with that high of a laugh-per-person ratio -- I mean, it was 8 pm on a Sunday in the middle of Eugene; we didn't have very many people actually at the showing, but the audience response laughter was louder than lots of full showings for comedies. I was cracking up the entire time.

Also? You know what? That's one damn queer movie. I was ready to say "Damn queer, but STILL less so than the 1968 movie" for most of the picture, but, uh. Then the courtroom scene happened, and I was forced to revise that view a little. BIALYSTOCK AND BLOOM, yo.

Hey, I'm not the only person who saw this movie! And yes, it was *so* slashy. I'm not even sure what the *point* of that whole last scene was, really, other than slashiness.
