I am having one of those moods. I'm a little more tired, a little less focused, a little more frustrated -- just a little bit off in a dozen tiny ways.
I want to be writing -- I owe both
shoemaster and
justbreathe80 something soon -- but I'm not. I don't have any more screencaps to share! I think we might all have said all we can on the topic of how much Ray Kowalski should be fucked by chicks.
I don't know, how are you guys all today? Tell me things that are making you happy. Tell me jokes! Show me pictures! Tell me the single clearest snapshot of the boys in your head right now. We all have to have some kind of tableau, don't we? Maybe Ray is driving the GTO and Fraser is watching him with that faint barely there smile of pride that Ray can't see. Maybe it is 2007 in the Northwest Territories and Ray gets home first from work and puts on Fraser's tea to brew on the stove. Maybe Ray is on his back on the kitchen table because they couldn't take the time to go to the bedroom, and his hands are gripping the sides while Fraser fucks him hard. I DON'T KNOW. YOU TELL ME! MAYBE THEY'RE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CHARACTERS, EVEN! Who knows what crazy stuff is happening here?
Hi. I have no fangirls here to get drunk and cuddle with. NOR any straight boys to make out with. My life is SAD, you guys. It really is.
Lalalalala. Hey, who wants to answer random questions for my curiosity?
1) What do you think is Fraser's favorite quality of Ray Kowalski? About Ray Vecchio? The Rays about Fraser?
2) What do you think is the thing Fraser finds most attractive about [whoever you think he is attracted to]? And vice versa?
Relatedly, I like it when people make them smooch. Oooh, or het smooches! Those are also go!
In conclusion, hedgehogs are scary.
[Um, if someone with a 646 area code just called me, I didn't answer because I am afraid of my phone. Hi.]

YOU TELL ME! MAYBE THEY'RE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CHARACTERS, EVEN!
Yeah, I've been having that problem with AUs lately. I wrote this whole long HCL AU in my head on the drive down to L.A. last week, and it started pretty innocently, but right about the time Pipe became this old, washed up former girl rocker who twenty-two-year-old Billy loses his with-girls virginity to on a farm in the Central Valley on a doomed road trip in 1992 (...), that it was no longer in any way shape or form related to HCL except that Joe and Billy were still hot, and still totally boyfriends.
And then there's the due South AU I've been pondering in which Ray joins the rodeo...

13/4/07 20:32 (UTC)Man, I still want to write the HCL AU where they were girls along some day. I probably won't, ever? But I want to! Jo Dick, feminist icon just DOES things to me.

13/4/07 20:32 (UTC)No! That can't be! *cries*
1a) Fraser loves the way that Ray Kowalski lives with his heart open. he tries to hide it, acts like things don't matter, but Fraser sees the way that his eyes flick away when they interview a victim. He hears the roughness in Ray's voice when he speaks of Stella.
Last week, he caught the end of Ray's report to Lieutenant Welsh and heard that same rough voice speak his own name.
1b) Ray Vecchio isn't the same since he came back to Chicago. He's stronger, somehow, and there's a wariness in his expression that disturbs Fraser. But his loyalty to family remains unchanged. Fraser wishes he could explain this to Ray Kowalski, that Ray Vecchio considers him a brother. But he's not sure how to do that without giving away the ways that his feelings about their own partnership, this newer friendship upon which he has come to rely, aren't brotherly at all.
1c) Ray Vecchio still loves the way that Benny can be counted on to do the right thing. That he's solid and dependable and somehow cleaner than everyone else. He even likes that Fraser's still weirdly polite.
Ray Kowalski knows better. Fraser's not polite with him, and never has been. Ray thinks that means something, but he's waiting for Fraser to admit it. Ray both loves him and hates him for being so stubborn, but he keeps pushing.
2a) Fraser loves Ray's openness, but ultimately he's most attracted to the way that Ray lets him see how much things hurt him.
That, and the way that sweat drips slowly down the side of Ray's face when they go running each morning. He finds himself breathless, thinking of what it would feel like to kiss the drops away, taste Ray's skin for the first time.
Ray's a sucker for a nice ass. He could pretend to be more interested in Fraser's mind or something, and there are lots of other things he loves about the guy. But that was the first thing he noticed.

Seriously, this makes my heart hitch just a tiny bit in my chest. Oh boys.
And oh man, just the tiny bit of RayV here! Vecchio-Fraser friendship is, like, SACRED to me, and this is a bit of loveliness. BROTHERS.

a) That is sweet and hot. Mmmm.
b) Oh my gosh, them going running together every morning. It is crazy how endearing that is to me. I don't even know WHY, and yet.

<3 Ray is so PRACTICAL.

[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and I are tossing lines back and forth in IM. I'll check with her and maybe we'll put them together into commentfic for you.
Ray and Fraser running together has definite possibilities.
Ray is so PRACTICAL.
He is. And people think Fraser is the observant one, which he is, but that doesn't mean Ray doesn't notice things.
Not that he can avoid noticing Fraser's ass. It's pretty hard to avoid

13/4/07 21:32 (UTC)[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]: It's an excellent point. Fraser is very, very pretty, but that's an ass of the gods.
And they hang out outside of work. Which means no tunic. Tunic is evil and very ass-obscuring.
[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]: It is. And they go running together, which means that Fraser borrows Ray's shower some mornings when they're running late, and Ray maybe sneaks a peak through the shower door when he brings in a towel.
Fraser never remembers to take one in with him, which is weird but Ray's not complaining.
S: And Fraser is very responsible, so he is diligent with the stretching. Both warm up and cool down. Ray had no idea Fraser was so flexible.
O: He didn't. And not only that, but Fraser makes these little...noises when he stretches. Not like it hurts, although some of those positions make Ray wince in sympathy. More like he really enjoys feeling that stretch of muscles, and can't help moaning a little. Ray's started wearing his shorts *really* loose lately.
S: Some mornings, Fraser asks Ray to help with his stretches. To hold Fraser's leg and push. It's stupid, but knowing that it's his hands on Fraser's skin, the pressure he's putting on Fraser's body making him sound like that... It's the hottest thing Ray's can imagine. Except for that flash of Fraser's bare, wet ass with the slow streaks of soap slipping down.
O: And the funny thing is that there are times when he's sure, absolutely fucking positive, that Fraser knows what he's doing. There's this look in his eye, like he's daring Ray to say something. And there are moments where he's bent over his knees, dripping sweat onto the gravel, and he feels cool air on the back of his neck. Like Fraser's trying to cool him off. It doesn't help matters, because the thought makes his heart speed up and he can't catch his breath.
S: And running with a hard on sucks, so he tries to ignore it, but he just gets more and more frustrated. Ray is faster, but Fraser never wears out, so by the time they get back to his apartment, Fraser's always pulled just a bit ahead, and Ray can't help but watch his ass flex in his sweats. This morning he almost ran Fraser over, didn't notice they were outside his apartment and Fraser had trotted to a stop.
O: He apologized, but he's pretty sure Fraser noticed the issue. What with the way Ray smacked into him from behind and Fraser ended up pinned against the wall, trapped between the bricks and Ray's dick. Fraser was polite, but it took a few seconds for Ray to remember that he wasn't *actually* fucking Fraser, and he knows that Fraser's not usually that breathless at the end of a run. But he can't figure out how to start the conversation.
So he just steps back and stares at the ground and pulls the door open for Fraser, who walks through first even though he should be running away at top speed.
S: Usually Ray limps up the stairs, groaning out his pain. Today they're both silent as they climb. Inside, he strips off his t-shirt and tosses towards his bedroom, then goes to get a glass of water. His hands are shaking as he drinks.
O: He bangs the glass down a little hard, but it's not on purpose. He's just having a hard time figuring out where his skin ends and the room starts. He turns around to call out to Fraser, ask if he wants something (yeah, like that isn't a loaded question) and staggers, because Fraser's right *there* up in Ray's space. Ray didn't hear him come into the kitchen, and now Fraser's looking at him and asking a question with his eyes and Ray's not sure how to answer.

13/4/07 21:06 (UTC)Fraser should hold babies ALL THE TIME. Doing the little puffin face in the first one! And in the second one, oh my god. S1 Fraser is so YOUNG and FRESH and PURE and he's wearing the brown uniform and SMILING and his HAND is so big against the TINY TINY delicate baby head and EEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Hi, you are my new favorite. *pins star on your chest*

13/4/07 21:27 (UTC)Fraser plays dumb, "What do you mean, Ray?"
Ray steps into Fraser's space, knowing he will stand his ground and loving the way it makes Fraser twitch to have anyone that close to his pretty Canadian face. "I mean, Fraser, you're telling me I don't need to drink. You're telling me everything in my life is just peachy-keen. I'm a fine, upstanding citizen and all that. So, what, specifically is so good about me? No," He pauses and squints at Fraser. "What do you like about me?" He pokes Fraser in the chest to emphasize the important part of the question.
Fraser's trying to read him. Trying to see what's behind the question. But Ray is standing so close, Fraser can't look him in the eyes without moving his own back and forth fast, like he's speed-reading. Which is probably something he does for fun.
He stops trying to look at Ray, dropping his eyes and sticking his tongue out to lick the corner of his mouth and oh, that is not fair. But Ray stays put, takes a deep breath and tries not to sway forward, not to follow Fraser's tongue back home.
"Ray, I--" Fraser starts and stops, drags his thumbnail across his eyebrow. Ray rolls his eyes, just a little, waits for - what next? - the ear tug or the collar pull. "I don't know quite--"
Ray feels himself deflate a little. "Yeah, that's what I thought." He turns to the counter and grabs his glass, but before he can lift it to his mouth, Fraser's hand covers his.
"Ray," he starts all over again, but this time he's standing right behind Ray, not looking in his face. And his voice is low and scratchy and right in Ray's ear, and Ray couldn't go anywhere right now if he wanted to. Which, for the record, he really doesn't. Not with Fraser's front up against his back and Fraser's arm and hand covering his, pouring out warmth like no radiator Ray has ever been able to afford.
"Ray, you--" Fraser clears his throat in a low rumble and Ray breathes in sharply through his nose, "You feel more than anyone I've ever known---" Ray scrunches his nose. What the hell does that even mean? "And you, you don't just-- you don't try not to feel. You let it guide you. You let your heart guide you, Ray. We can call it instinct, if you prefer, but-- It's an admirable thing, Ray. It's a beautiful thing. I admire it and I envy it. And. I love you for it."
Fraser takes his hand off Ray's and drops it to his side. Ray stands, frozen, barely able to breath. That was a lot to process right there. And Ray isn't so big with the processing. And wow, he just learned that Fraser actually likes that about him. No, loves that. Loves him. And he'll be damned if he isn't getting a loud and clear message from his instincts right this second.
He turns, bumping right into Fraser's chest and slipping his hands up around the back of Fraser's head, into his soft, soft hair. He looks down at Fraser's lips, right there, waiting. Fraser tilts his head a little and just barely whispers, yes, and Ray kisses him. Fraser's arms come up around his back and Ray is completely swallowed in that heat, his lips sliding wetly against Fraser's, his hands grasping Fraser's hair, his neck, his face.
It feels so damned good, Ray doesn't ever want to stop. If his instincts - his heart, his whatever - got him here, then he loves them too. Loves them a lot. And if he loves them, he better keep on listening to them. He pushes on Fraser a little, without taking his mouth or hands away, leading them in a soft shuffle away from the scotch on the counter and toward the door to his bedroom.

13/4/07 22:51 (UTC)Her baby book is going to be packed and Fraser's talking about making a second one, in case the first is damaged in a fire. Ray thinks he's crazy. But maybe there's something to the picture thing, because right now Fraser's stretched out on the couch, and their little girl is passed out on his stomach. Everytime he breathes, Ray gets to watch half her body rise with him.
What the hell, they've got all these rolls of film anyway.
