OKAY SO I GIVE IN ALREADY. My friends, let us discuss Wizards of Waverly Place. Here are some topics to start us off:
1) How is even humanly possible for Selena Gomez to be this charming? HOW? I want her to live in my pocket forever and be adoooorable, oh man. I can hardly stand it.
2) The show is actually surprisingly good. No, I'm serious. In the genre of tween-appealing family shows, this one is both less embarrassing and less mind-numbingly stupid. And I mean, like, I will defend Hannah Montana pretty far, but however I love it, I know that is a crappy show. The quality of this one is higher than that.
3) You guys, I know you're all going laugh at me, and it is probably deserved, but ... LOL SUBTEXTUAL HETCEST :DDD:. I don't know. I DON'T KNOW. The first episode I saw was the one where Alex has both her & her best friend's brain in her head, and her best friend has a huge mega crush on Justin, and starts trying to control Alex's body's behavior around Justin and his girlfriend? And then we just watched another episode where Alex finds out Justin has not had his first kiss yet, and she's WAY WAY WAY TOO INVOLVED in making it perfect for him (and that episode ends with her kissing a random guy in front of him just to get back at him).
It also doesn't help that their relationship is probably the strongest one on the show and the two actors have a lot of chemistry together. Plus he's the cute but incredibly fucking geeky boy! and she's the evil but adorable one! And um. Stop looking at me like that.
I would like to add that I might have been able to let all of this go if it hadn't been for
shoemaster's EPICALLY ENABLING TEXT MESSAGES. She just linked me to fanfiction.net stories, you guys. Do you know when the last time I read badfic with a guarantee of no porn to make it worth my while? NEITHER DO I.
TO RECAP: Selena Gomez is the cutest thing alive, this show is addictive, and you should all be writing me and Allison Disney tween incest fic. (
shoemaster prefers where they're secretly not really related, so it could have happy endings.) Relatedly, I still encourage links to any and all Selena/Demi Lovato or Princess Protection Program fic that isn't terrible.

5/8/09 05:39 (UTC)I love all Selena Gomezes. She's so charming in everything she does. Also, the show has good writers because Alex's character is hilarious. And adorable. I'm probably more excited than I should be for the Wizards of Waverly Place movie /o\

5/8/09 05:56 (UTC)And it's not like Carter cares, or anything. She's not into girls, but basically half her college friends are, so she's not weirded out. She's just bummed that Rosie never trusted her enough to tell her, and maybe a little sad that she didn't get to be there for Rosie when she was being basically attacked by paparazzi wherever she went, because that must have sucked. Mostly Carter puts it out of her mind, though. She doesn't even tell her college friends that she's met Rosie, let alone that she and Rosie were close friends. It just feels wrong to trade in on their friendship like that, just so she can tell some lame stories about knowing someone famous.
Only then they run into each other in, like, Paris, because Carter just graduated college and is doing the backpacking-through-Europe thing. They go out to dinner to catch up, and they talk over each other in a way that never used to be awkward, but is now. It gets less weird, though, and they hang out the next day, and the day after that, and then all of a sudden Rosie is coming along to the next city Carter's hitting. It's basically just like it used to be.
They never talk about Rosie being a lesbian, though. Carter isn't sure how to bring it up, or even if she should bring it up, and Rosie never volunteers anything, except for once when she looked across a restaurant in London and pointed out a girl she thought was hot. Well, it was Rosie, so instead of saying, "check out that hot girl," she said, "Oh, she is beautiful," almost absently, like she wasn't talking to Carter in particular, and Carter looked across the room at the redheaded girl Rosie was gazing at. Privately, Carter didn't even think the girl was that pretty, but she just sort of nodded and wondered why this was making her awkward and uneasy.
And then there is epic UST and one night they get really drunk and Rosie confesses that she had a crush on Carter when she first met her, only she didn't really realize it was a crush at the time, and then she laughs about her faily bb lesbian self. Only Carter can't stop thinking about it and then there is more epic UST and then there is adorable sex, the end.
IDK, ERICA, I AM THE MOST RIDIC. :D:
