101 dalmatians
9/12/03 14:06You know, before the 80 millionth time watching it (the small children like puppies), I never noticed that one of the ways we're clued in Cruella DeVil is evil in the live action 101 Dalmatians is through her feminist leanings.
Anita is good because she wants to get married and have babies and finally get away from this job -- which is good enough now, but not after she has a *family*. Dearie me, no!
But, god, we shouldn't even be surprised Cruella is a ruthless puppy killer. She's obviously one of those man-hating ambitious women. You know how *they* are.

9/12/03 14:50 (UTC)I did watch the live-action sequel a couple of years ago when I was babysitting, and I had to bite my tongue to keep from going off in a rant ("So what are they saying? That people are just born evil, and they can't really change?") about it in front of the little girl I was watching.

9/12/03 18:53 (UTC)Man, I watch all these cartoons with the small children all day long, and I have to keep all these thoughts to myself. Except the ones I remember to put on lj. I don't think I ever did the entry about how disturbing Ariel's youth is in the Little Mermaid (and how King Triton was kind of hot for an old guy, aside from the fishgenitals)/

10/12/03 17:25 (UTC)We also got more chihuahuas than ever before after that Taco Bell dog became popular.
Interestingly enough, these two breeds of animals, marketed to children, are actually two of the worst dogs one could possibly give to a child. They're both high-strung and tend to be nervous and don't like being prodded at, and Dalmations need a whole lot of attention and exercise.
