So the comments in one of my other entries turned into -- well, not a discussion, but a place where a bunch of stood around and said "Pining! I love pining! And yearning! And UST! More please!"

And that led to me leaving pre_emptive this comment:

LIKE. PETE AND MIKEY ARE IN LOVE! BUT PETE IS ALREADY PROMISED TO SOMEBODY AND MIKEY DOESN'T HAVE ANY MONEY ANYWAY SO THEY CAN NEVER BE. SO MIKEY IS GOING OFF TO, LIKE, INDIA OR CRAP TO SEEK HIS FORTUNE. AND HE GOES AND CALLS ON PETE ONE LAST TIME IN HIS PARLOR AND THEY STAND IN FRONT OF THE WINDOW AND THEY ARE BOTH THINKING ABOUT THINGS THEY CAN'T SAY AND IT'S ALL FRAUGHT AND MIKEY SAYS, "PETE..." AND PETE SHUSHES HIM WITH ONE FINGER ON HIS MOUTH. AND MIKEY TAKES PETE'S HAND IN HIS AND SLOWLY SLOWLY PEELS OFF HIS GLOVE, AND THEN BRINGS PETE'S HAND UP TO HIS FACE AND PLACES ONE KISS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PALM. AND PETE LETS OUT A LOW SIGH AND HE AND MIKEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER FOR A LONG MOMENT, AND THEN MIKEY LETS GO OF PETE'S HAND, AND TAKES A STEP BACK, AND PUTS THE GLOVE INTO HIS COAT POCKET AND LEAVES.

AND HE KEEPS THE GLOVE THE WHOLE TIME HE IS IN INDIA. AND THEY WRITE LOVE LETTERS TO EACH OTHER WHICH THEY ARE BOTH AFRAID TO SEND BUT WHICH THEY KEEP ANYWAY. AND PETE HAS A BIG SOCIETY WEDDING WITH HIS BETROTHED AND MIKEY MAKES HIS FORTUNE AND THEN FIVE YEARS LATER MIKEY COMES BACK TO ENGLAND AND THE FIRST TIME THEY SEE EACH OTHER IS IN SOCIETY, AT A PARTY, WHERE NEITHER ONE KNEW THE OTHER WOULD BE THERE.

If your eyes are not burning from that much capslock in a row, I think you can all clearly see the amazing awesome involved here.

Also discussed last night, in a different forum: how much of a kickass medieval mystic Gerard Way would have made. Aversion to all sane forms of hygiene? CHECK. Creepy obsession with blood? CHECK. Complete earnestness? CHECK. It's the role he was born to play, baby.

I also scientifically proved, through the skills fandom has taught me, that Alicia and Mikeyway are sleeping together. Neither shoemaster nor pre_emptive seemed properly impressed by this proof of my utter genius.

Anyway. Ray Toro's cock is way more important than anything else I could ever have to say.

I love, love, LOVE pining. Love it so much, it's my favorite thing ever in the world in fic, where there are OBSTACLES to overcome and theirloveissohopeless! But then of course it's only good if they surmount said obstacles and against all odds, end up together and totally in love, happily ever after, THE END!

He would have many hats! But he'd be all quiet and reserved and, you know, Mikeyish, and all the expats would think he had mysterious skills and talents and possibly magic, and would want to include him in their dealings (people always think quiet folks are deep. *grin*).

Regency era crack fic, I need that in my life so much. Mikey comes home after years in India and Pete's married and it's tragic and maybe Mikey takes up with some young artist type and of course it's all very hush hush but Pete knows about it and he gets so jealous and then they all pine and are miserable for a while but eventually they run off together to India where they are "business" partners and confirmed bachelors for life. Or maybe Pete's wife dies in childbirth and he flees the country and takes his child with him and then he and Mikey end up meeting again in some foreign spa and they both realize that they are still in love and Mikey comes back to England and plays the indulgent uncle to Pete's child and they are bosom companions for the rest of their lives. I've read way to many romance novels because there are about a hundred other variations of this scenario for me. I love some good angsty unrequited pining.
