I can believe theory 7, but I still don't think it explains all the data here!

Theory 8 is intriguing! So he doesn't talk about it because he doesn't want to make up lies, he just doesn't want to come out either?

Yeah, pretty much. I don't believe he'd lie about dating someone BUT I believe that maybe he'd not want to come out and say he's dating a dude because then he's pigeon-holed himself (at least as far as the media is concerned). Or whoever he was dating didn't want to be outed.

Or, whatever, maybe he was dating a Canadian supermodel although basement!Gerard seems more likely to have a geeky boyfriend. maybe it was ray
