9/5/06 21:06Context:
fox1013 is drunk and watching porn about pirates. And feels a need to tell me all about it, because the two of us are buddies. Yes.
fox1013: They're having sex next to a skull. And hitting each other.
fox1013: like you do.
pearl_o: At least they're not having sex with the skull!
fox1013: ...thanks for that
pearl_o: *beams*
pearl_o: *has read that fic*
fox1013: ...
fox1013: *hides under bed*
Yes, yes, I know. I win at life.
Aaaaaaand then we got into a conversation about how I don't really read very much Hard Core Logo fic. Look, I know you all laugh at me about the unsanitary thing, but it's TRUE, OKAY?
P.S., why are I ALWAYS the person who ends up having to explain to people what trepanation is? Was I the ONLY person who ever read the Golden Compass? Come on!

10/5/06 04:53 (UTC)2. I know what trepanning/trepanation is. And I knew it at an impressionable age, because I did in fact read The Golden Compass.

10/5/06 05:30 (UTC)Although, of course, when I think about skullfucking (which is either the best word ever or the worst, I'm not sure), I always kind of go to an 'eyesocket' place, myself. I mean, they're right there! easy and convenient! no cutting of bone required!
...OK, yes. I am WRONG INSIDE. I know this (and now you do, too!). I acknowledge and embrace my wrongness.

Hee! I know! And I REALLY wanted to buy a trepanation set at the antique store, long before the Golden Compass came out, only my mother squicked my by waxing nostalgic about using similar things when she worked ER and OR back in the day. (I presume, however, that they were using it to remove excess blood and fluid, and not to let the evil spirits out. Or something.)

10/5/06 21:46 (UTC)p.s., my first experience with trepanation was Golden Compass, but my favorite is Stephen Maturin sticking a spoon into a guy's brain. Oh, Age of Sail. *happysigh*
