More about my imaginary fandom. I know, I know! I'm sorry! )

ANYWAY. In the world of REAL FANDOMS! I just watched Heroes 1x05, and oh my god, dudes. I feel like I should have lots and lots to say about this show, so it's really weird that I don't, not at all. All I have to say is BWEEEEEEEEEE THIS SHOW I LOVE YOU SO MUCH SQUEE SQUEE SQUEE. I am ridiculously in love.

On the list of things that fandom is making me do that I will probably regret in the near future:

a) I'm downloading Hard Candy for Ellen Page.

b) I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] rps_advent. Eeeep!

Fox and I are the AWESOMEST, omg. You don't even KNOW.

As I've mentioned, Fox and I have done nothing but talk about Canadian actors for the past weekend. This post and the next one are just going to be a ton of article transcripts we've found really interesting, and maybe a couple of links. If this is useful to you, AWESOME. Write us some fic!

And of course, interesting links or more articles or just useful facts and trivia about everybody = always welcome! (Especially if you have Sandra Oh's issue of BUST from last year, because ... dude.)

Midsummer 2006 recommendations )

For those of you who were gone this weekend, I posted a HCL story for the challenge, which you can find here.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] sloganeer scanned in an interview with Paul Gross, talking about Wilby Wonderful, Daniel MacIvor and Callum Keith Rennie in her journal here. It is pretty awesome, frankly.

Plans for the rest of the day: rewatching more of Farscape s3, and ice cream.

Hello, friendly people! [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 and I are seeking links, and if you could help us out, we were be most grateful.

What we are looking for: all the Canadian actor RPF you can sling at us. Gen! Het! Femslash! We are not so interested in Hugh Dillon/Callum Keith Rennie and Callum Keith Rennie/Paul Gross as pairings, so for those, it's mostly only if they involve other characters, or are really funny.

In other news, I am checking livejournal every two minutes or so to see
if more midsummer fics have been posted yet. I think I will post recs later tonight or tomorrow, after I have read my story. I am also checking my email every two minutes, but every time you people have failed to entertain me! It's very sad. Don't you want to cater to my whims like a dancing monkey?

Things Fox and I Have Learned, Looking Up Information for RPF This Evening:

1. Even though we've both read it before, the Cannes article with CKR and Sandra Oh is still pretty much the awesomest.

2. Sandra Oh and Molly Parker BOTH spent, like, fourteen years studying ballet, starting in their early childhoods. (Fox thinks this should be a wee!canadians ballet!AU. I DO NOT DISAGREE.)

3. Hello, how did NONE of you tell me that Molly Parker is totally knocked up!!! I choose to continue, as I have always done before, to ignore the fact that she is totally married to some guy, presumably quite happily.

4. There are a lot of characters named Sandra in Canadian indie films.

Edited to add: Hey, can anyone point me to documentation fo the whole "everyone living together in a big dorm during the filming of Wilby Wonderful" thing? And was there a little TV spot about it that had footage of Sandra Oh and CKR walking around together, or did I imagine that? [livejournal.com profile] madlpudl rocks with the footage finding!

You know, if it has to be a con weekend where half my friends abandon me to go have a glorious time -- well, it could be much worse than having new Slings and Arrows episodes and a ton of yummy challenge stories from [livejournal.com profile] midsummer2006 to look forward to, is all I'm saying.

I've been waiting to post this until [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 finally posted her [livejournal.com profile] midsummer2006 story, because there's a spoiler of the best line in the RPF section of her fic. But now she has, yay, and I am free to share with you how awesome we are.

Dirty speculation on Canadian actor porn! WOOOOOOOOOOT. )

I have a weird and completely unsupported theory that Benton Fraser is prone to use the word "prick" when using vulgar slang for penis, rather than the more common "cock" alternative.

You know? If due South did have pairing portmanteaus? They would be FRAY and RAZOR. That is kind of the best thing ever.

I have been rereading Dinosaur Comics all week because of [livejournal.com profile] moireach and [livejournal.com profile] annakovsky. DAMN THEM. Also, uh, last night in Kovsky's journal I seem to have written a CKR/T-Rex crossover. Uh, apparently they have poker nights together where they gossip about how much they like Kovsky! And then they get drunk and make out and play scrabble! Who knew?

...Don't judge me, OKAY?

Also, [livejournal.com profile] rayk97s is still open for sign-ups! You should all consider coming and playing and having lots of fun with us all! [livejournal.com profile] minervacat and I will smile upon you and think you're nifty-cool. (If you're not signing up because you don't know the music, you can email either of us and we can arrange to take care of that!)

Ideas which I had during my insomnia last night that I am never going to write:
a) Wilby femslash Sandra/Carol
b) AU where Muldoon killed Bob and not Caroline

Discuss.
schmerica: (tc: hope/curtis)
Things I have made [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 watch this week:

+ The entire run of Twitch City (minus "Angels All Week", which is reserved for tomorrow.)

Things I have made [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 look at this week:

+ All the cute Twitch City related pictures here. There was particularly fun in playing with the two pictures that show the Powers of Selective Cropping!
+ The Hugh Dillon/CKR pictures there as well

Things I have made [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 read this week:

+ Sandra Oh and CKR talking about what they'd do at the end of the world.
+ CKR's Flower and Garnet journal.
+ The quote of Molly Parker's where she talks about how she and Sandra Oh and CKR were all BEST BUDDIES down in LA.
+ The quote of Lynne Stopkewich's where she quotes CKR saying "Make me your meat puppet"

Things I have promised to show [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 in the future:

+ Slings and Arrows. (Rachel McAdams AND Don McKellar AND Paul Gross AND s1 Rex Reilly[Mark McKinney]!)
+ Men With Brooms. (Molly Parker AND Paul Gross AND Dan from Wilby Wonderful AND Peter Outerbridge who is not CKR but was in Molly Parker's necrophilia movie! Written by, directed by, composed by, starred by, THE BRILLIANT BRAIN CHILD OF Paul Gross!)
+ various episodes of due SOuth. (Guest starring every actor in Canada!)

There has also been much gossip, as I told her bits and pieces of approximate eight million stories without full context on any of them. Why CKR and Hugh Dillon are insanely slashy! CKR's high school background with Bruce McCulloch! His bad boy youth and how he quit drinking when he got a shard of glass through the eye! The fact that everybody on the Wilby set lived in like a giant dorm and partied all the time!

Also, Fox has gotten two different people to write her crazy Canadian actor zombie road trip RPF in LESS THAN A WEEK. I am sort of in awe of her talents, people. I hope she manages to get you all writing Twitch City, too!

I WIN AT LIFE.

You might ask why. And if you do, I will point you to this entry of [livejournal.com profile] fox1013, where she reveals my mad skills at converting her to Twitch City. It only took me three years, too!

Also, in that entry, you might notice Fox's plaintive cry for more CRAZY CANADIAN RPF, which I cannot second strong enough, omg. People! They all know each other! They have all worked together! They are all wacky and adorable and quirky! PLEASE write them hanging out being weird now, thanks!!!

Do I have to link to this article again? Because I will. CKR and Sandra Oh and Molly Parker were BEST BUDS in LA! Being hot and awesome and kickass! And that is not even counting the others still up in Canada (*cough*Paul Gross is pretty*cough*Don McKellar is a strange little man*cough*).

In conclusion, <3<3<3<3!
schmerica: (hcl: billy)
Or, instead of SGA reading, I can entertain myself with [livejournal.com profile] estrella30's insanity. SURE WHY NOT?

In which we're either mean or crazy. Hard to tell. )
schmerica: (other: kink)
1) You know what I really, really want to read suddenly? Ryan Gosling/Rachel McAdams RPF. Seriously, dude. How hot are they? SO HOT OMG. I have an urge for this now, and it does not exist! DAMMIT.

2) I have changed my user interests again to add various Bluth-related incest pairings. Always fun!

3) Did I mention the people who wrote me awesome birthday fics? Because I should have because, AWESOME. [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl wrote me a story called Ex Libris, which is basically my ideal perfect Fraser story, and [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 wrote me The Triumph of the Skies, which is gorgeous and actually EXISTS, when I had begun to think it was a mythical WIP!

4) Tonight I am going to Portland! And [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn and I will go see Brokeback Mountain and go back to her apartment and be big dorky losers (one of my favorite activities)! <3<3<3<3<3

5) Dear friends list, you look pretty today! I like your hair!

love,
me

I think I've mentioned this before, but I really would be totally interested in knowing that CKR/Don McKellar fic existed out there. Especially if it didn't totally suck.

Detail I never noticed about Twitch City until tonight: Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould poster on the wall of the unrented room all through "I Look Like Joyce Dewitt."
schmerica: (Default)
On my latest viewing of Velvet Goldmine, I have decided the very best part of the movie is the random little girl and her Barbie-doll RPS. Hee.
schmerica: (Default)
I don't think it's actually possible to talk to [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl right now without hearing more and more about the RPF imaginings she and [livejournal.com profile] estrella30 were going crazy over. Seriously, people, nobody knows how to obsess like BLG. It's so cute! And also kind of weird!

Seriously, I don't come up with stuff like this on my own )

Yes. Apparently BLG's sordid fantasies = the fault of the entire nation of Canada. Hee. Thanks, neighbors.

a. People who say the reason they do not like a specific slash pairing is because Character A reads to them as straight, when they read *other* slash pairings with Character A. (I can get that you might not think a certain pairing has subtext to support it or whatever, but I don't get how you can go from "OMG RAY VECCHIO IS THE STRAIGHTEST GUY EVER" as the *specific* reason you don't like F/V and still love Ray/Ray. I mean, I know RayK is a superstud, but still.)

b. People who say RPS is gross and/or wrong, but who are perfectly willing to rec stuff and make exceptions for a story that involves the characters are cult leaders or murderers. (If kissing and being bouncy and joyous with their bandmates is, you know, disrespectful or stalkerly or blah blah rps is wrong ... then, uh, how exactly does your worldview make Flesh Mechanic okay? I mean, I think it's a great story, but I'm not going around declaiming the end of the world, so whatever.)

c. Why do I keep signing up for classes that take place during dinner time? ARGH. (I actually know the answer to this one. It's because I'm stupid and don't learn from my mistakes.)

d. Why do I find the combination of first and second person so engaging and charming? First person stories, I mean, that are directed to a specific person. Obviously all epistolary fic fits into this category, and dude, do I love the genre; and there's also [livejournal.com profile] china_shop's I love you without knowing how, and my own favorite of my due South stories. Hmmm. (I have nothing to add in parentheses for his part.)
