schmerica: (guilty pleasure)
1) Why doesn't every fandom have a Cutting Edge AU? Seriously. Every fandom.

1a) Are there any Bones stories that are hockey-centric? I have a craving for some reason.

2) The other day [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 and I were chatting while she was perusing the Avatar kinkmeme, and while discussing the scary porn she was finding, I brought up the prospect of Appa porn, and I was shocked when she told me she hadn't seen one request like that. I've been in bandom over two years, guys; I expect every fandom to be chockful of furries! If it were bandom, I could find a dozen Sokka/Momo OTP stories without batting an eyelash.

3) Apparently I never got around posting any of the stories I wrote for last year's bingo card to the Kink Bingo community? Oops. That means I'm not allowed to get a new card, sadly enough. Still, everybody posting about it has reminded that the old card exists. I only finished 4 stories last year, so there's still a lot of kink potential there. I wonder what Starfleet fucking machines are like.

4) Uhhhh, I dunno. Here's a couple pictures of Jeffrey Dean Morgan being a fucking hot-ass. SIR. Report to my pants IMMEDIATELY. That is an order. )

YOU GUYS. Just now, talking with [livejournal.com profile] annavtree, I came to a very important conclusion regarding Pete Wentz. Like, important enough that I am shocked I have never realized it before. Because the thing is? Pete's pedo thing and Pete's furry thing make PERFECT SENSE TOGETHER. Of COURSE they go in tandem!

I mean, dude. What's the best way to get yourself freaky kinky playmates? MOLD THEM AND SHAPE THEM IN THEIR FORMATIVE ADOLESCENT SEXUALITY YEARS.

Like. I'm sure it's not a conscious decision. But that would not stop it from being INCREDIBLY EFFECTIVE.

This realization originally came from discussing whether or not Mikey and Alicia have had sex in furry costumes, which -- Anna leans toward Pete asking them to, but I don't think they would ever do it on their own devices, for the reason that once you stop having sex with Pete Wentz, I would think you would be pretty full up for that kink forever more.

But, see, Pete got to Mikey and Alicia both too late. When you start to think "Man, how does Patrick deal with it?" you have to realize that, um. Pete DID get to Patrick early! Patrick thinks its totally normal! Rosy first-other-person-induced-orgasm memories!

Of course, the final moral of this story is: everyone should feel really, really sorry for all future significant others of any of Pete's exes. Except the ones who find each other, because that's awesome.

TANGENT ALERT.

From the comments on my last entry:

[livejournal.com profile] juleskicks: Erica, posting all these pictures of Callum bending over and from behind is NOT HELPING with my pegging kink. I'm just saying.

[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: I THINK YOU WILL FIND THAT DEPENDS ON YOUR DEFINITION OF "HELPING."

\o/

(Also, there is a reason why the second story I ever posted in ds was totally RayK getting pegged, dude. Also, I think you will find the fandom has a very profound fondness for Callum getting fucked by girls as well.)

[livejournal.com profile] juleskicks: ...this may well be my new favorite fandom. \o/

You all know what this means, right? RIGHT? Come on, fandom, do not prove me a liar! I NOW DECLARE THIS THE OFFICIAL POST IN WHICH TO DISCUSS HOW CKR (AND/OR CHARACTERS PLAYED BY CKR) NEED A GOOD FUCKING FROM A GIRL WITH A STRAP-ON AS OFTEN AS NECESSARY.

Here, I will even give you discussion points to start with:

+ RayK: big whiney bottom for, well, EVERYONE?
+ Give us more pictures of Callum being bendy from the back!
+ Is he just so very queer that even the most heterosexual sex must be queered as well?
+ I really think Billy Tallent would be less fucked up if he got fucked more, y/n?
+ Combining genderfuck PLUS pegging, like in [livejournal.com profile] etben and [livejournal.com profile] shoemaster's Bend Over, Buddy: does the genderswap in addition to the pegging create a situation where the queerness is exponential, or is there a point of diminishing returns?
+ Callum is hot. Discuss. Extra credit for diagrams!

I am currently thinking thoughts about Molly Parker's sex toy collection, how about you?

So [livejournal.com profile] justbreathe80 had a really interesting post about writing porn yesterday, and it's got me thinking. One of the things she mentioned was the importance of word choice -- because, yeah, there are some words that are Just Not Sexy, and if your goal is to be writing something hot, maybe you should think twice about using them.

And the thing is, I agree with that in general principle, but not completely. Because the thing is, I think there are times when the judicious use of otherwise completely unsexy words in your smut CAN be amazingly hot, or effective, or just RIGHT. It all depends on the context and the characters. Sometimes the overly crude term or the overly clinical term, which is a complete turn off on its own, just WORKS in your story. And, oh man, when that happens? There are seriously few things I love more, because it just feels right.

Okay, so I just looked through my stories for example of what I mean. Obviously these are all totally matters of opinion, because isn't porn always?, and possibly totally turn off everyone else who reads them. But these are actually all bits of writing I actually really like, and the contrast and unexpectedness and character-specificity is part of that.

Billy Tallent and Joe Dick use REALLY unsexy words, because they are gross )

Ray Kowalski, is it necessary to say jizz? Really? )

Benton Fraser likes to use clinical terms, but it can be hot anyway, I swear )

Or, using other people's stuff for a moment, I know that some of the stuff that stays hottest in my mind, remembering things later, can be stuff that isn't intrinsically sexy on its own. I wouldn't not have guessed Fraser using the word "ejaculate" could be amazingly hot, but then I read [livejournal.com profile] kassrachel's In Uniform, and oh my GOD.

This is the point in the entry where I should make a conclusion and reveal my point, isn't it? But I have lost track of what it is. I guess that while I understand how certain words can be automatic turn-offs for others, for me it really is all about context. In the right situation, almost ANYTHING can work.

Doing more reading this evening, and I mentioned to Zee about ANOTHER one of the perks of choosing this for my fun reading fandom is the easy access to all the sweet underage stuff! And this came up:

[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: also, you know, re: underage -- i think it says something quiting touching of how pure my ds love is that i've been this passionate and devoted to it for this long despite it's almost complete lack of my biggest button.
[livejournal.com profile] ficbyzee: ....wow, it does.
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: also, it's kind of hilarious that at this point, mostly people probably know me FROM ds fandom, and know nothing about my penchant for sullen teenage boys.
[livejournal.com profile] ficbyzee: yes! it is hilarious!
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: *eyes you* are you making fun of me?
[livejournal.com profile] ficbyzee: ...no?
[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o: hee, okay!
[livejournal.com profile] ficbyzee: um. actually not.
[livejournal.com profile] ficbyzee: sarcasm and honesty sound similar on the internet!

Seriously, it is funny! Because, uh, I'm not really all that subtle about it, but it just hasn't come up that often in the fannish contexts I've been in lately. Heh.

(Back in the day for me being, like, 2003. I realize for lots of you back in the day means, like, 1997. Or, I don't know, back when there were zines and dinosaurs roamed the earth.)

(This entry is mostly about boyslash, and not so much femslash or het, which I've read less and not noticed the issues as much.)

A conversation over in [livejournal.com profile] kalpurna's journal about power dynamics and ass-fucking here -- while pretty interesting on its own! -- has sent my thoughts on a vaguely related tangent. Read more... )

It's the Sunday of a three-day weekend. As always on these days, I feel oddly at loose ends and don't know what to do with myself. How easily things go topsy-turvy in my head!

Blah blah blah )

Fandom angst! And anniversaries! )

Hmm.

The other day I was pouting because [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl didn't want to add my "underage or chan" prompt to the list of options for the kinkfest at [livejournal.com profile] stop_drop_porn.

I own my weirdnesses )

...I forgot that I hadn't posted this entry yet, and was feeling sorry for myself that no one cared enough to comment yet. IT IS THAT KIND OF DAY, PEOPLE.

Google searches are fun )

Sometimes I wonder if maybe you guys are all starting to think of me as just "That Crazy Girl Who Loves Fraser the Best." Because, I mean, I do, but there are many other facets to my character. For example, I also like things that are shiny.

I wish there were more Twitch City fic in the world. I want more of these characters. MORE.

One thing I cooked today: Lamb stew, as advised by several of you in yesterday's post. Stew is really the most improvisational food in the world, isn't it? Besides like sandwiches. Mine turned out to be of the "emptying kitchen cupboard" variety: lamb, onion, lots of spices, chicken stock, lentils, carrot, potato, tomato paste. The lentils gave it an interesting texture -- it's very thick and mushy, rather than being at all liquid -- but I like it this way.

One things I accomplished today: Greek midterm = YAY. At least a B, hopefully higher.

One thing I am weird about: I know I've been mentioned this before, but whatever. I still don't get why people have RayK call Fraser by his first name in slash stories! I mean... he doesn't call him that. Ever. Just like Fraser doesn't call RayK "Stan" or "Stanley" and Vecchio is the only one who calls Fraser Benny.

I guess it's just a basic difference of opinion at the really basic level: I don't think in that situation that Ray calling him Ben creates a more intimate relationship. I just don't. It feels false and sentimental to me the vast majority of the time. I guess because I think their friendship is plenty intimate already, in canon? And Ray does not call him that even once, even in the most fraught or emotional situations, which ... leads me to believe that Ray thinks of him as Fraser. And what I like best about slash, most of the time, is the relationship coming out and being an extension of the friendship they already have, rather than something completely seperate, as if that never existed.

(Stories I can remember where I believed the first name thing: [livejournal.com profile] resonant8's American Way and [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's Passion. There were probably plenty where I didn't notice, too, but mostly? Weird quirk of mine.)

One thing that I am oddly ashamed of: You know, at this point I feel it is sort of ridiculous for me to be ashamed any of my kinks -- AND YET IT IS SO.

I mean, I can own my fondness for hetcest and underageness, and I can be fascinated by non-consensual scenarios, and god knows there are 80 million non-sexual buttons that get pressed all the time. And you would think I have been in fandom long enough -- and had enough completely TMI and smutty conversations -- that I would be without shame! Human sexuality is healthy! Fantasies are fantasies! My kink is OK, your kink is okay!

And yet there is this one thing that kind of disturbs me and yet gets me off so much, even in the most ridiculously worst written fics. WTF, brain. WTF.

(No, you sickos, it has nothing to do with piss, scat or children. It's not even that twisted; I'm just, obviously, inexplicably shy about it.)

One thing about my imaginary fandom: Motherhood, 400 words or so )

Thoughts about writing your kinks )

That said, *cough*. I think Dief would totally adore Ray once he's turned into a woman. Dief is pretty much a sucker for ladies in general, it seems like. So Ray'd think that was a little weird, but it'd be kind of flattering, too. Cause it wasn't like Dief had hated him before or anything, they'd always had a kind of understanding, they liked each other, they were cool. But now it was like they were buddies, and Dief suddenly wanted to follow him around and sit by his feet and stare at him adoringly, not even like he wanted food or anything. He just liked him. Ray had a dog once, when he was in college, and okay, Dief wasn't a dog, and Dief was twenty times smarter than Spike had ever been, and twice as big, but it was still nice, it was still familiar, because Dief might be all mature and restrained and "I'm Not a Pet, I Am a Chosen Companion" with Fraser, but he lay next to Ray on the bed and let Ray scratch his ears and rub his belly and listen to Ray while he bitched about everything without interrupting and being logical and fair like Fraser always tried to.

It was nice. Kind of comforting.

P.S., it is possible I am using this icon solely to punish [livejournal.com profile] estrella30. HA. Also, Spes was telling me how she was talking to her friend about Twitch City, and the subject of CKR/Don McKellar RPS came up. Does anyone have links?
